20 takeaways from Ryan Silver’s NIL Power Conference

I flew to Vegas to attended Ryan Silvers NIL power conference a few weeks ago. This event was packed with a ton of value. Shoutout to Ryan for putting on a great event. 

High Major GM’s 

  1. Expect your NIL number to be out there. Everyone talks. Lean into it. 

  2. GM needs an entrepreneurial spirit. Be creative. 

  3. Go hard with social media content. Brands want content. 

  4. Explore two year contracts. 

Panel of Agents 

  1. Be upfront about the numbers. Especially if you are including a buyout. 

  2. Universities see these programs as franchises. 

  3. Does not see a hard cap coming. 

  4. Long way from this thing stabilizing. Embrace the chaos. 

  5. Portal is saturated because the 6-9th men are testing. Need retention. 

High Major AD’s 

  1. University created a 1 credit course that teaches all basics of NIL. Athletes mandatory to take it. 

  2. Looking for a way to operate efficiently.

  7. Open the minds of donors who do not like NIL. Show them how NIL is changing lives. Changing families.

  9. Talk to big brands in your community. Show them why there is value.

  1. Loves NIL and the portal. Way more efficient. Call the agent, get the number, and you know within 15 mins if you can move forward or not. 

  2. Be out in your community. Be visible. Say yes to all events to raise awareness.
