One way to standout: Be creative. Everyone has the same conversation over and over. How are you going to separate yourself?
III
Networking tip: Follow up with the people that you meet. A lot of people collect numbers and never reach out.

How to maximize your Final Four connections
The Final Four is filled with 4 minute convo’s and people exchanging numbers. The question is how are you going to turn some of those numbers into real connections?
Here are 5 ways to maximize the connections you made:
Organize the contacts you made. A lot of people save numbers quick. Go back, make sure the spelling is correct, add where they coach/work, etc.
Send them a follow up text. We all meet a lot of people over the weekend make sure you don’t wait too long to text them. “Hey Coach Smith hope you got back safe, it was good to connect.” Keep it simple.
Write letters to the connections you felt like you had a good conversation with. Easy way to stand out.
Let a week or two go by and ask for a call. Learn about their journey and see what you can apply to yours. “Hey coach I saw you started out coaching AAU, do you have a few mins this week to talk to me about how that helped you get where you are?” Everyone is saying “Coach let me know if you hear of anything!” Try to be different.
Be yourself.

I recently sat down with VCU DOBO Luke St. Lifer. Luke has gone up and down from multiple levels and landed in a great spot. His journey is a classic example of betting on yourself.
As always thank you for reading
