How to ask for help!
If you are trying to get a job or advance in your career it’s going to be really hard to do it by yourself. You have to ask for help but you need to understand how.
Here is what you have to remember when asking for help:
The people you ask are not going to want the job as bad as you do.
Just because you have a conversation with them about helping doesn’t mean they are going to call.
The people you are asking also have lives. They have a boss, wife, kids, current team, 20 kids in 2027/2028 they are recruiting, and more that they need to balance.
You are thinking about it daily but they may be distracted because of everything that is going on.
DO THE WORK and make it as EASY as possible for the person helping you to HELP.
Go find who the shot caller is. Who is making this hire, who has influence in this hire, go get those people’s numbers.
THEN come back to the person helping you and say this. “Hey coach smith these are the two people making the decision on the hire. I got their numbers, can you call them? Now all your mentor has to do is DIAL A NUMBER.
Make it easy! Good luck, go get what you want!
